Aurora Borealis Observatory
Jensen Liu
Project reinterpret the Northern Lights from the formal point of view and energy, particularly as the magnetic field and the wind behave in relation with the surrounding nature. The building is covered with a stainless steel skin that reflecting the aurora and merges into the environment. The architecture is located within the grounds as it aims to use the thermal energy of the earth to get the insulation. A system of lighting has been installed with the function of a skylight in the entrance of the building. To ensure the autonomy and sustainability of the building, the geothermal energy is captured and transformed into electricity that generate a magnetic field required for activation of LED systems in the facade. The water collected from snow and rain will be recycled for use during the springs for leisure and water games.
